Maybe a full size 1911 or glock, but I'll take my chances with the R9.
Then again if you carried on your hip and fell on your hip could you not break your hip?

That certainly is possible, I would think.  Our sheriff was speaking of conceal carry and where best to carry and not to carry.

Where did he think was the best spot?  Pocket is too slow for me but that is my back up when I have to tuck my shirt in. I can wear my IWB on my hip but not as comfortable as the small of my back.

His suggestions were front pocket, IWB(side), or back pocket.

Interesting, thanks, never carried in back pocket paranoid someone would reach in and take it.

Maybe I should take Richards advice, shave my leg and duct tape it to my thigh. Ouch...

I would hate to practice that draw!

Let the record reflect that I was merely reporting and would never personally advocate such a mode of CCW!   ;D

Richard, I understand and would never duct tape my R9s to my thigh.  Maybe to the back of my neck like on the movies?

I wear cargo pants most every day, and the Nemesis works well to keep the R9 upright.  I balance the R9 with my two phone in the pockets on the other side, and support the whole darn thing with suspenders.

I carry a Glock 22C and medical supplies in a small shoulder bag (organizer) from Maxpedition.

I have two holsters from Jim at Hidden Holsters.  Excellent customer service.  The IWB sits nice and high, but needs more than my usual T shirt to cover it.  The front pocket holster (with a thinner anti-print plate) works really well in heavier pants.  A real comfortable holster is the K&D which I had made with 1.75" loops for a duty belt.  I wear it over the right kidney, not in the enter of the back.  It covers real well with most shirts.  Both the HH and K&D are made REALLY well and should last my children's lifetimes.
