A Flight 93 site visit
« on: May 07, 2006, 10:33:49 PM »
I did post this as well on another board but thought I'd put it here too -

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I doubt if there are too many here who will be able to ever visit the Flight 93 site at Shanksville PA.
To that end let me share a few images from there, as today Mrs P95 and I biked out with some friends and a few hundred others, on a very good run, starting from a Hog Dealership in Somerset.  Far from warm but still good.
A major permanent memorial is yet to be built and has been in the planning stage for ages - so for now things are a bit ''informal'' - that said there is more than enough to act as both reminder and memorial tribute too.  A stiff wind made the flags really flap and so pics were tricky, plus one has a load of writing on it, with all the names of those lost - very hard to tell that.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Rather than end on a somber note, let me add some levity for you!  First - this was one hog that was not goin' to have room for a passenger :wink:

This guy obviously has attitude LOL!  Plus his mirror is held up by a nice lady!

Finally, a biker's popular motto :smilez:

Thanks for posting the pix.  The wife & I will be driving to Philly from Michigan in July.  On the way home, we'll be sure to stop at Shanksville.

I wish the appeasers who want us out of Iraq would stop there as well.  It would remind them that some very bad people want to kill us - and we're at war to prevent a recurrence.

I can't bring myself to see the Flight 93 movie.  It wouldn't be good for my blood pressure and I already know how it ends.  >:(
