Ripped off by Ultra Hyde holsters!
« on: March 26, 2006, 01:42:11 PM »
I checked and did not see a TOS for this site that would prevent me from posting my negative experience with this company. Just thought I'd warn people about them. Heck, I'm probably doing them a favor by giving them this free advertising. If the mods feel that this post in inappropriate, they may delete it.

Basically, I got ripped off by a company selling the "Ultra-Hyde Concealed Carry Holster."
Website is http://hideyourgun.com/

Here's the story:

1) Bought holster 08/01/05. Similar concept to SmartCarry but not enough velcro used on waist band. When fully stretched, velcro would not "meet." When secured with existing velcro, gun would "bounce" around due to elastic stretching.
2) Never really used it much but several months later (12/24/05) I decided to send some feedback to Mr Hyder about the problems I had and suggested an improvement (adding more velcro to inside of waistband.)
3) On 01/03/06, Mr Hyder replied, thanking me for the feedback and suggested that I return it so that he could modify it. He stated that he "wanted me to be 100% satisfied." I thought that was great customer service so on 01/05/06 I mailed it back to him for modification.
4) Emailed him on 01/12/06 asking if he received the holster. Received no reply.
5) Emailed him on 01/17/06, again asking if he received the holster.
6) On 01/20/06 he replied saying that he did receive it and would work on it "next week" and would email me when he shipped it back.
7) On 02/09/06 I emailed him and asked for an ETA as to when the holster would be ready.
8) On 02/15/06 he replied saying he was sorry it was taking so long and that he should have it out "by the end of the week." THAT WAS THE LAST TIME I HAVE HEARD FROM HIM.
9) On 03/03/06 I emailed him and asked the status of the holster - received no reply.
10) On 03/14/06 I emailed him and told him that if he couldn't do the modification to send it back and I would find someone else to do it. - Received no reply.
11) On 03/21/06 I emailed him again. No response.

The last few emails were sent to 4 different email addresses I had found for him and his company. Still no response.

Conveniently, his website does not list a phone number. If he doesn't want to deal with his customers, he can simply ignore the emails.

Beware, this guy is a thief! I don't know what else to call him. I guess he ran out of excuses for stalling so decided to completely ignore me.

Thanks for letting me vent!

Jimmy - poor or zero response is never good - tho I often wonder with emails just how often folks check them!  Particularly with small businesses sometimes.

If you have their address then perhaps a chance to track down a phone#?

It sure does seem desultory service right now - but I'd keep trying if only to get some sort of satisfaction - at very least get the thing back.  Keep us updated.

What complicates matters is that he appeared to have moved from Florida to California sometime between August and January. The holster was sent to me from Florida but when I sent it back in for modification, he had me send it to a California address. I did a whois lookup on his domain name and it still lists the Florida address and phone number. I called the phone number and it belongs to some A/C company, I just got their voicemail.

I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau in California (since that's where I sent it to.) I'll see if they have any luck. I do have his California address and will try to see if I can locate a phone number for him. The fact that his website contact info is "email only" is something that should've tipped me off from the beginning.

I'll be sure an post an update if things get resolved.
