The blizzard howled here last night. Over a foot of new snow accompanied by winds to 50 MPH. I was awakened at 0400 when I felt the house shudder.

Imagine a blank sheet of paper. That's how it looks "Outside My Windows".

It must be a glorious sight.  My dream is to arrive up north, and then have a blizzard start.

If you get some pictures, CaptBW, please post.

My wife and I are back at home base after a week of travel (a judicial conference and a medical checkup for her, CLE courses and some business matters for me), and I'm still catching up on the posts to the Forum in general and this magnificent thread in particular.  Great photographs and wonderful stuff here!

I can't post a photograph of the gift which my wife gave to me for Valentine's day last Tuesday, but I can describe it -- a CT scan which shows no sign of any cancer anywhere in her body!  And this is from a woman who was given only three months to live when her cancer was first diagnosed in November 2004!  Her friends call her "the walking miracle."  Her oncologist just smiles and describes her case in medical journals.

After we left the oncologist's office on "Cloud Nine," I drove her to the most elegant shopping mall in the State capital and proceeded to follow her around through the shops, leaving her side now and then only long enough to carry armloads of new coats, dresses, skirts, sweaters, blouses, shoes, and books to the car.

Times like this seem to place things in proper perspective and help me remember what is truly important in life.

All the best, my "cyber friends."  It's good to be back.

Richard, it is wonderful that your bride is doing sooo well. It has given me lots of hope on my Kathleen and her cancer. She is nearing the end of chemo and will in March do surgery, then on to radiation. Happy you had a nice trip.

Richard,

I'm so pleased to hear about the good news.  We are all proud that you cared enough to share the good fortune with us.  Thanks so much.

Tom,

We are hoping and praying that your wife will respond well to her medical care.  All of the members here will be thinking about you and Kathleen.  Our best wishes go out to you.  Our expectations are high.

Richard - your "gift'' was without doubt the best you could have had - no two ways about it.  Welcome back - good to see you have returned safe. :)

The ''prayer list'' is alive and well BTW Tom. ;)

My dear "Cyber Friends" (and you know who you are):

Please know that I have posted these reports on Joyce's remarkable progress in her fight against cancer not only to express my own profound joy but also to offer what I believe to be realistic hope to those of you who also are either fighting the monster or helping a loved one to do so.

Looking back on my life from the vantage ground of my 68th year, it appears that I spent my first 57 years defying the odds and the last 11 trying to make amends.  The older I become, the more I seem to appreciate the gifts of life which I had previously ignored or taken for granted.

Who was it who first said, "Youth is wasted on the young"?

Take care.  Stay safe.

Richard and Tom
You are good men and wonderful husbands.  Your love for your wives just jumps off the screen - you also Chris.

Capt
You are having all the snow and here I sit with a Bobcat with a heated cab and snow plow waiting for some snow fun.  I took it out yesterday just to run it.  We had a good wind storm before light today.  Had a few large limbs come down.  My large limbs are larger than many people's trees.  House is ok.

Since it is cold outside thought I would do some ice carvings.

Kidding - my pictures but not my talent.

Dave those are beautiful.  I have always greatly admired the folks who do such work and in fact somewhere have some astounding pics of this done, I believe, in China!

Richard, Dave, Bill, Dick, Steve, Tom, TW and so many others - if there is one thing that truly saddens me, it is that the chances of us meeting and shaking hands is so remote as to be probably impossible.  We can but continue to enjoy ''company'' thru this medium.

That in itself has over time been a great source of pleasure for me.  I am glad to have this small haven of friendship.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To add - we had that nasty wind - woke me up this morning - but glad to say no major tree downers.
I agree Chris.  The nice thing about the forum is that you get to make friends through knowing more of what makes up the person.
This is sometimes better than the prejudices around appearance, age, economics and etc., that society many times puts in as road blocks of getting to the the real individual inside.
