Alot of open water so not as concentrated as years past. But one of the pleasures of living on the water.

Dan:

That's a nice photograph!  Is that the bow rail of your boat in the lower left?

Tom - you knew how to live - I admire anyone who can train a hawk or falcon

Dan - you said you live on the water - do you mean you live on the water like a houseboat - or by the water.  Always thought living on a boat for awhile would be neat.

I know the excitement I feel when a redtail or an owl uses our bird feeding area as his hunting ground and swoops down in total silence to catch dinner......I can only imagine the rush of memories you must feel after having trained a bird of prey. Very admirable accomplishment.....thanks for sharing...Hedrok

Richard, Yes Sir!  Thats my bay boat a 19ft center console. Good for fishing clamming duck and goose hunting. Or just playing on the bay.  Here are some pictures of the big boat. Good for off shore fishing cruising or just relaxing in a secluded cove.  With gas prices what they are the trips have been much closer to home.

Dave, I live by the water. The canal is in the back yard.  Couple hundred yards to the bay.  Living on the boat is ok for short stretches but can be cold in the winter. I guess if you had the right boat it wouldn't matter.  Dan

Tom, A bird that will go get you dinner is pretty cool. I was sitting in the woods one day watching a chipmunk run up and down a tree about ten yards from where I was sitting. Out of nowhere an Owl swooped down and snatched him right off the tree. Never heard him or saw him coming.  If he had been looking for me he would had me.  Dan

Working with and training hawks and falcons was a pleasure and a lot of hard work. I had to get their meals at first by trapping and/or hunting. We had the help and guidence of a Catholic priest. It taught me alot about animals and myself.

Dan:

Beautiful boat!  I once helped a friend bring one similar to that from the Bahamas to Annapolis.

Speaking of hawks and owls snatching their dinner from in front of your eyes, I've seen it happen at our cabin's feeding station.  We have a pair of hawks nesting nearby.  Here's a photo of four squirrels defying the odds:

Dan,

That's a terrific boat.  You've got it made.

Richard,  I like the feeding station.  The squirrel on the red roof better keep his eyes open.

Thanks for sharing - nice -man is always pulled back to the sea.

How does it handle in rough seas.

Dan - you are a lucky fella - always did love boating.  In my case it was (years ago) mostly river.

Thx for new pics and the continued enjoyment of our ''social'' thread.  Might be time Dave to kick of # III soon ;)

Dan,

Do you take your boat out on Lake Michigan or Huron?

I have a cottage on the Huron side,  and may have seen you passing by.  :)

We always get excited when a freighter comes along.   It happens pretty often.
