Hello All,  Went upstate for a couple days to prune apple trees and clear brush.  This thread grows in leaps and bounds.  The pictures on this thread are incredible.  We are a lucky lot.  Keep them coming it brightens up the day.  Thanks Dan

Sometimes to know where we are heading we need to take some time to look back to where we've been.

It is easy to see why it is called "The Inner Passage".

As I read this thread each day and reflect on the similarity of the paths of our lives.....a lot like going to different schools together.....there shows a commonality of protectiveness, pride and purpose that is most comforting.
But, you guys already knew that......Thanks ...keep it going.......Brian

Another great picture, Dave.

Now, I'm going back to look at your new truck, for motivational purposes.  My 1995 Ford pickup is starting to look too used.

Another national treasure...

These were taken on Tuesday in the late afternoon.  The lighting is a little dark because the sun had already dipped behind the mountains.  Temperature was 25 degrees and about 20 mph wind.  (Thus, no other people in the pictures!  ;D)

This, on the other hand, was taken Wednesday in the early afternoon. Boy, the sun is bright in South Dakota!  For those that don't recognize it, this is the Crazy Horse memorial near Hill City, S.D.

For those unfamiliar with the story, below is a shot of the 1/34th scale model of what this memorial will (or may?) ultimately look like.  They have been working for 60 years so far...

Hope you enjoy these!  :)

Duane,

They are grand pictures.  I liked everything about the place.

Even the visitor center was first class.

Duane, thanks for the great pictures, it brings back great old memories. The summer after high school and college some friends and I went there and climbed the Mt Rushmore Mtn from the back side. There is storage area and caves behind the faces. We then discovered an easier way down or up off the far right side of the faces. I have some old slides of this. How do I convert and put them in the computer so I can post them?

Duane - thanks for those great pics - excellent.  One of many places I would like to see - but the list is long!!!

Tom - re slides.  Only way I would tackle those is - using a suitable scanner, with a top light source (this needs a special type head really) - scan a slide at high res - I use 600 usually.  Once scanned it can be enlarged.

If you have a few pics you really want digitized, I would be happy to do some for you if you felt they could safely be wrapped and mailed.  You have but to ask Sir.

Duane,

Thanks for the photo study - never saw the visitor center view - very impressive.  I enjoyed all of them.

If "Crazy Horse" ever gets done it won't be in my life.

Dave

Brian - nice to have you chime in - very insightful.

Duane:

Wonderful photographs!  Thank you for sharing them.

According to my calculations, the statue of Crazy Horse (Tashunca-uitco) might just be completed by the year 2077, the 200th anniversary of his death.
