Auction to Benefit Forum -- Unique Pen Set
« on: February 01, 2006, 11:06:05 PM »
Hello all,

I have a unique pen set to auction with proceeds to benefit the forum.  This item was donated by a forum member who chooses to remain anonymous, so I don't know a lot about the item, but here is what I know:

This is a very nice handmade pen set made by a doctor who is also a shooter.  Both are made from some exotic wood & have brass accents.

One is a regular everyday ball point pen.  It retracts and extends by twisting the barrel.  The brass pocket clip is in the shape of a lever action rifle.

The second  is a unique knife/multi-tool with interchangeable tools/ blades stored inside the pen barrel.  There is a phillips and regular screw driver, exacto knife blade, ballpoint pen, and a set of tweezers.

Both come in a black felt pouch.

So here is the deal... I have no idea what these are worth.  I would raffle them off but it is illegal in Florida under these circumstances.  So, its an auction.  Bid here in this thread.  Auction closes at 8pm on Saturday, February 4.  I am not setting a starting bid since I know there will be some interest and that it won't be a problem.

You can ask questions if you want, but you know most of what I know about the items now.  Good luck and good bidding!  ;D

Yowza.  Thanks, Richard.

And by the way -- many thanks again to the anonymous donor from the forum.  You know who you are!  ;)

I'll go $120 -- now, the real question, is which one of us is ingenuitive enough to have made this thing?

The doctor who constructed the set is a friend of a forum member, not a forum member.   ;)

Nice work there. :)

If I did not already have way too many pens, some semi-collectible, I'd be in with a bid.

I'm in with a bid of $125.00.

Any chance the set comes with a Hedley pen holster? (just kidding)

Sorry guys, I was asleep at the switch!

Billmack is the winner at $125!

However....  Bill is making the donation to the forum but has declined the pen set.  Many thanks to Bill for his generosity.

Therefore, I am going to offer it to the next higest bidder -- Aglifter.  No obligation Ag, but its yours for $120 if you still want it.  Let me know.

Thanks Bill!  And thanks to all who bid.

O.k.  I think I have this sorted out!

Billmack sent his donation and declined the prize, donating it back to the forum.  Thank you.  ;) As did Richard S. Thank you!  :)  But Aglifter agreed to take the set off my hands in exchange for his donation.  Thank you, sir.  ;D

All in all, a nice fundraiser to pay all the 2006 expenses.  Thanks to all of you for your support and generosity.

Just an update -- the pen set has changed ownership again!  Aglifter let me pass the set on to a new bidder who expressed interest off the forum -- one of our most famous non-members of the forum -- Eric Rohrbaugh!

Eric will be sporting his natty new pens as he works tirelessly to crank out R-9s to the masses!  8)

Thanks Eric for your support of the forum in so many ways.
