R9S mis-information on The Firing Line
« on: June 26, 2004, 09:42:39 PM »
Could any of you guys, who are also members of The Firing Line, perhaps educate FirstFreedom?  I also have a P3-AT and don't know what this guy is talking about.  My R9S is just as easily concealable as my P3-AT.  This guy talks about thr R9 as if it were a brick?? I posted the link after FirstFreedom's inaccurate quote.

FirstFreedom writes about the Rohrbaugh 9mm on The Firing Line:

"It is most definitely NOT nearly as thin/concealable as a KelTec P3AT, which is important if you're wearing jeans (as opposed to loose fitting pants). The Rohrbaugh is still a bit on the thick and big side for carry in jeans. Yes, you can do it, but you'll be printing "gun" or at least "something big, probably a gun" when carried front pocket style. Now, OTOH, dress pants/loose casual pants are a whole nuther story, and the Rohrbaugh is ideal for that type of carry! (AND, it's 9x19, not 9x17)."

Thanks George.  I hope others do the same.  Maybe someone with some technical expertise can provide them with a comparison photo of the R9 and P3-AT sise by side.

I can't remember which thread but - sure I had posted Jody's pic of those side by side ... plus, I have given links in past to my range reports etc.

Sure it is heavier but for anyone to comment using the term .... ''not nearly as thin'' ..... well, guess they have not bothered to do a real comparison.

Glad one or two have helped redress the balance .. I will try and keep an eye open for such apparent inaccuracies.

Chris:
How would we get the comparison pictures posted on that forum?  It would probably be the first time that "know it all" actually saw a R9/R9S.

I posted some pics over there -- the pics are impressive.  Courtesy of K-Man.

Here is the most impressive:

Those are the pictures I was thinking of.  Good work Duane.  As they say, "one picture is worth a thousand words."

In the photo the Kel Tec is longer, but their published data says that it is identical to the Rohrbaugh (5.2 inches). Someone seems to be fibbing....

The pic above shows things pretty well . the one I was referring to - which Jody took IIRC was this one ....

This also includes the PC9.  I think I did use it on TFL at some point, tho of course it does not show thickness as such.  Only need to remember tho that it is single stack and it is not difficult then to imagine the thin grips.
