Cheap guns become expensive

I bought a Sig P232 for personal carry.

$600 .... for the gun
$300 .... for new springs, 6 visits range fees, and 7 boxes of ammo

So now I got $900 in a jamamatic that has spent half it's life at the Sig factory getting 'Fine tuned'.  The P232 is so unreliable that I don't dare carry it.

So now its off to a gun show and hoping I can get $300 for it as a trade towards a Rohrbaugh

I had the same experience with a Spanish-built clone of the 1911 .45 ACP back in the '60s. I finally gave it away to someone to use for spare parts.

Even the  classic 1911 design, if not properly executed, can be a "jamamatic" more useful as a paperweight than as a self-defense weapon.

I have a Browning HP, Mauser Broomhandle, Kimber, Seecamp, Star, etc. I took each gun and fine tuned it with magazines, springs, polishing, and specfic ammo. I even got the old Star 1911 to 99% reliability.

The Sig P232 has a breech face that has been machined away, and the gun will never eject properly. The cup that holds the empty casing in place until it hits the ejector is milled away.

I will go $250 for the Roughbaugh, and a renaisance Browning HP I will go $325, and a Seecamp 380 I am willing to go $175.

Now, I have a Ruger  MK-3 (22 cal pistol) that I may consider trading for two Rohrbaughs .... and I will throw in a box of 22 hollow points. But, if you want to pay cash for my Ruger, I am $3,000 firm.
