New Camera - New Grips for  HK P7
« on: June 01, 2009, 06:19:12 PM »
I just bought a new Nikon digital camera and am attempting to gain some proficiency with it. About the only thing new to photograph in my arsenal is a set of micarta grips for my Hk P7. I got the micarta grips to use for daily carry in place of the more fragile Nill walnut panels, which can now be saved for Bar-B-Ques.   ;)  Anyway, here's the new rig in one of Kevin's adjustable Paddle Defender holsters:

Tracker:

It's just a little Nikon P60 -- pretty basic stuff compared to what else is available these days. However, I'm not a serious photographer and needed something pocket sized to replace my 10-year-old HP which finally died the other day. (HP doesn't even make cameras any more.)

Richard  -  those grips not only look well, but they look like they feel good in the hand and grip better than the factory grips.  Am I right?

Is there a website for that gripmaker?

Thanks

Thank you, Sir!

Reinz:

You're right about the feel of the micarta panels. They really provide a firm grip for shooting the P7.

Here is a link to Pete Foldyna's web site. (As a note, I might add that Foldyna has a small family-run operation, and I found it easier to communicate with him through his web site than by regular e-mail.)

Tom:

That's a nice camera you selected, with (among other features) 12.0 megapixels and 7x optical zoom compared to the 8.1 megapixels and 5x optical zoom in mine.

I hadn't realized what a "dinosaur" my old HP had become, although it did serve me pretty well for many years.

Good luck with your new Nikon.

Make it 3, maybe. I bought a Nikon P80 a year ago and am still
riding a steep learning curve.

By Heaven, my bruised ego feels better already -- just knowing that a former sky diver and a former carrier pilot are also experiencing learning curves for Nikon compact digitals.   ;)

Tracker:

I just realized that your P80 has an 18x optical wide-angle zoom. That is more than a camera -- that is getting up there into telescope territory!

Calilw:

I started reading the specifications for the D80 SLR, but it just gave me a nagging sense of inadequacy. That is one serious camera -- 0.18 second start-up, continuous shooting at 3 frames per second, and 2,700 images per battery charge!

___

Well . . . back to the P60 User's Manual. Now, let's see, where was I . . . oh, yes, here it is . . . page 80. . . "Customizing Image Enhancement Options. . . ."   :-/
