New Ruger (P3AT) .380 Pistol...
« on: February 02, 2008, 05:17:28 PM »
I heard George Kelgren once say that when people copy his firearm designs -- it is the highest compliment...

Well, Ruger has done just that:

http://www.ruger.com/LCP/

It has a slide stop -- I'll be buying one...
I'm not a gun expert -- but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night...

I will pass.

It is a .380, it is plastic and it is butt ugly.

If they give it a stainless slide, I find a home for it :)

Does it have a repeat striker capability?

I like the looks.  It will replace my p3at, especially if a stainless slide comes around.

I handled one at the SHOT Show.

It does not have repeat strike capability--works just like the P-3AT.

The slide stop is just hold open device.  In other words, you can pull the slide back and push up the stop and hold the gun open.  However, it does not lock back on an empty mag.  Therefore--the increased functionality over the P-3AT is minimal.

No word on a stainless model.

The guns are supposed to start shipping in March.

I will have one soon for T&E for Concealed Carry Magazine.

My LCP is here...   ;)

Photos later.  Very similar to a P-3AT, but with a nicer fit and finish.

The LCP IMO is what the p3at should have been.  For $279 it is a very nice pocket gun.  Two of them have made it into the family.  My wife's LCP has just shy of 400 rounds through it with only 1 "problem" round.  Not to bad.  With that being said it's nearly the same size as my R9 and the only time I could ever forsee it taking the Rohrbaughs spot would be ATV'ing when I know i'll get wet and muddy.

400 rounds of 380, what kind of ammo are you using, have you tried any defensive rounds like MagSafe or snything to see how they feed??? and is the guide rod metal??? tx...Dan

wwb, gold dots, golden sabers, some reloads, little bit of everything I guess.   Yep the guide rod is metal, atleast it looks and feels that way.
