This is really - the world's smallest gun.
« on: January 30, 2006, 09:12:03 PM »
I meant to post this a while ago - it is from another board.  Quite exquisite workmanship and precision IMO.  Later in that thread I did some pics to try and show comparisons because it is so darned tiny - I'll post these too.

It actually takes miniscule rimfire ammo - remarkable!!

REALLY - The Smallest Working Firearm

This IS the smallest working revolver and live ammunition in the world.

Makes The NAA Mini .22LR Look Like A Giant Revolver.
And Yes, it is considered to be a real firearm...all State & Federal Laws Apply.

Ahhh - here is one pic I played with - another guy had a pic of his Smith .500 and a snub - to which I added this minute thing as close to scale as I could!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Oh and one more pic - I added the mini to my old ''David & Goliath'' pic - but in fact didn't really scale it down quite enough!!
Amazing Chris!  I would like to see it shot.  To make the ammo must have been a venture also.
I agree - even the ammo would be ''watchmaker'' skills!!
Let me link one or two more pics - here is ammo - 2.43mm cal!!!  Oh and, a stonking 0.8 ft lbs energy LOL!
That is amazing.  The craftsman who made that has way too much time on his hands.  (Just jealous - I can't begin to make things like that  :P)
I would be worried about it getting lost.  Especially the ammo.  How would you be able to insert the rounds?
It's a good thing it's a revolver.  Disassembly and reassembly for a pistol would be pretty tough.
I wonder if anyone in the U.S. stocks them and how much they would cost?
Jimmy - I'd hazard a guess that it would be many $1,000's - it is watchmaker's skills and I expect each screw even is hand made.
As to availability - no idea - but it is one of those things I expect where some inquiries and a fat bank balance would yield results!! ;)
Chris:
I think your "watchmaker" comment is right on the mark.  That miniature jewel could only have come from Switzerland.  It takes the concept of concealed carry to an entirely new level.  It also gives new meaning to the term, "Stick it in his ear."
I like it for the curiosity factor, but I have to wonder why it was produced in the first place. I guess just because they could? Nice conversation piece though.
As to the watch correlation, some of the tiny parts used in fine mechanical watches make even these pistol parts seem large by comparison. I think that's part of what makes mechanical watches so fascinating.
A woman could carry it concealed in the open on their belt as shown, everyone would think it was a piece of jewelry. ::) :o
