super lube on other guns

hey guys got another question for you all.  Should I use SuperLube on my LB TRS?  The reason I ask is that the Rohrbaugh team seems to think that this is the best stuff out there otherwise they would not strongly recomend it.  I shoot mainly lead swc through my TRS, and when I go to the range I shoot anywhere between 500 to 1000 rounds.  My worry is that the Super Lube might be too thick and gum up my gun over that many rounds.  Does anyone have any suggestions.  Right now I use Wilson Combat Ultima-lube grease and oil. thanks

matthew, I'll offer an opinion, for what it's worth.

I think a thin layer of SuperLube on the frame and slide would be perfectly fine.  I'm sure it would be as good as anything else.

I'll certainly use it on my pistols.

I also requested a free sample of militec via emai. l purchased a bottle later.  You apply it using a hair dryer to "set" it into the metal.   Then, the SuperLube could be used.

They also send a free sample of militec grease, I think.

Miltec does have grease samples also; it is quite good.
Also, at someone's suggestion here I ordered a tube of
"Slide glide" and it is outstanding; seems to be a lot less
viscous and, some might argue, just as effective.

There is an abundance of excellent lubricants available for firearms now.  Petroleum engineering has advanced significantly in the last decade.  Synthetics are quite common, and do a great job.  

Really, pretty much any of the major brands of gun lubes will work quite well for any application.  I use Brian Enos "Slide Glide" on the frame rails, slide, barrel hood, bushing, and slide stop on my 1911's and really like it.

FP 10 is a great low viscosity all purpose lube and protectorant (is that a word?) for firearms.  Bottom line is, there are a lot of good products out there and there is no excuse for not using a good high quality lube on your guns.

I am sure that we all have our favorites, and they all will do the job.  Just don't use the 30 wt non detergent lawn mower oil on your nice gun!

I most always on general use, used Rem-oil,for ages with no apparent problems..

As of late I have been using CLP,due to shooting ARs a bit,and they seem to love it..

I've been using EEZOX since 1992, and it is really good.  Don't where that photo came from - couldn't find it on the EEZOX website.  http://www.eezox.com/index.html

Because of the somewhat unique features of the R9S, I've followed the Rohrbaugh recommendations to the letter re: Superlube grease and Mobil 1 oil.  But I did treat the exterior of my R9 with EEZOX.

A personal experience with EEZOX:  I had fired my Glock 22 and then ran afoul of the local police department.  My uncleaned Glock was confiscated and held for six months before I was able to retrieve it.  The Glock had been treated with EEZOX, but I expected the bore to be scrap.  Surprise!!  
It looked as good as new.  There was no rust or fingerprints on the slide either.  I've been sold on the stuff ever since.

I don't think Militec-1 can be beat as a pure lubricant. It's not the best rust preventative as those photos show, although I've never personally had a rust problem with any of my guns while using it.
I think some of the other products that excel at rust prevention probably give up a little bit in the area of lubrication.
Seecamp applies a mixture of Militec and Eezox at the factory. The best of both worlds I guess.

I have no prob with Superlube but do consider with tribology where it is today that there many choices that are all good.  I also feel that because of the ability of grease to hold crud, it is tho persistent which is good - a potential problem if cleaning sessions are too extended - I have proved that with my SIG.

I have also used Tetra grease and Militech grease on semi's.

I am not too concerned with who wins the ''anti-corrosion race'' with the R9 but am concerned that SS running on aluminum is very effectively assisted by good lube.  More and more I have to say, despite having been a ''grease'o'phile'' I am tending more toward a good oil for semi's.  Militeck1 is up there IMO.

Best of all is regular maintenance and lube schedules - but applying too ''less is more'' in particular with internals like trigger groups - lot of compromize.

I have used Militec for quite a while.  All my guns have received a good coating applied with a hair dryer.

Tomorrow morning, I'm picking up a new HK USP full-sized .45 auto.  While doing advance reading of the owner's manual, I see they recommend a medium oil.  Then, they concluded with the following comment.

"Do not use lubricants that boast of their ability to penetrate metal  as these substances may deaden primers.".

My technique is to freely apply Militec, use the hair dryer, and wipe completely clean.   Then I apply conventional gun oil, such that the primers should not be affected.

Still, I have to pay attention to HK.  This is not their first cruise.

Bill - congrats on HK - nice piece.

I think the warning re primers would realistically only be for those folks who put their guns in a lube ''bath''  To be honest - using the ''less is more'' approach I could not see that as a risk.

IMO mags should be internally all but free of lube, except maybe for a trace of dry lube, so no probs there.

I've used Militec-1 for 4 or 5 years and have never had a problem with the primers and that includes a USP9 and USP45 Tactical. Like you guys said, as long as you use Militec as it's intended to be used and don't leave the gun wet with oil, it shouldn't be an issue. I think Militec-1 is the best lubricant available.

I picked up my HK USP .45 full size today.  I am just extremely pleased with it.

It has the best feel of any firearm I've every owned.  It fits my small hand just about perfectly and requires only the slightest stretch to reach the trigger.

It is a real humdinger.

Bill - your HK is similar in size to my SIG - and I have certainly liked the feel of USP's I have handled.

Nice aquisition - I think you will derive great pleasure from ownership and shooting it.
