Hi Frank:

I read the FBI file on the shooting. It is available on-line and took me a couple of months to plow through it.

I never saw the FBI video of the incident, or read their recommendations (I'm aware of some of them, but that is because they were raised in other articles unrelated to the incident). But, I am aware that the entire concept of how a "felony stop" is handled changed because of the incident.

I am also aware that the "PIT" (I can't remember what PIT actually stands for) maneuver became popular after the incident because of the problems that arose from the incident.

Other than the 19th century Shoot-Out at the OK Corral, I cannot think of an incident that was studied and/or debated more.

"PIT" = Precision Immobilzation Technique

Very specific in procedure and speed (no more than 35 mph).  NOT what you normally see on "Wildest Police Videos"!!

Damn, what I see on TV isn't really what goes on...I'm shocked. Next I'll discover that there is no Santa Claus.
