. . . . Or something like this NIB Colt Python 4" blue with the factory optional real ivory grips and Ellison adjustable sights. Karl just picked this one up off of Gunbroker and it's on it's way from Alabama. Gun was made in 1965 and the test target was signed by a, get this, German fellow! Karl has really gotten into furthering his collection of Colt handguns. How perfect for our family!  ;-)

Here is a couple more from last night.  Prices seem to be staying up there.

I see the prices on the Pythons today and it is hard to believe that they can be that high.  I just read on the Colt Forum that there were 600,000 Pythons built.

There is a lot of interest though.  The Colt Forum is pretty much all collector stuff.  Typically there are 150 to 200 members on line at a time and another 500 to 800 guests.

I am acquainted with the seller of these pistols.  He paid less than $4000 for these less than 10 years ago.

The buyer is a big time Colt Collector and buys and sells a lot.  He does not make foolish purchases.

Old Colts are like old Ferrarris...nowhere to go but up. Until the bubble bursts! And they almost always burst.  When he bought them years ago, everyone probably thought he overpaid. Smart investor or lucky investor? I'm a firm believer in smarts when it comes to investing in anything...with a little bit of luck! Good for him.
