Rare Pythons
« on: March 14, 2016, 08:22:05 PM »
The Python market continues to amaze me.  Here is a pair that did not sell at auction but the new owner posted on the Colt Forum that he had taken delivery.  Who knows what the price was.  The bidder at $100,000.00 is a big time Colt Dealer so he probably knew what the reserve was.

Remember, there were 600,000 Pythons built.

A friend of mine bought a new Ferrari Testarossa back in the 80's. Six months later the dealer who sold it to him offered him $25000 if he could have it back. He then offered $50000. He later offered $75000. My friend refused all the offers because he expected the offers to continue to climb. Then the offers stopped. Months later my friend contacted the dealer to see if he was interested in buying it. He wasn't. The dealer bought it 6 months later for $25000 less than what my friend paid for it. I learned a good lesson...with my friends money!
Having a gun in your hand is much more effective than having the entire police department on the phone!

Everything corrects; everything. To quote Bernard Baruch when he was asked the secret of his success: "I always sold too early."

A hard lesson to learn.  Timing is everything.
