The conspicuous gallantry and extraordinary heroism of Colonel Bernard Francis Fisher (USAF ret.) in the rescue at A Shau, for which he was so deservedly awarded the Medal of Honor, are truly an inspiration.

Regarding my previous "tongue-in-cheek" post, I have long been fascinated by the interservice rivalry which has existed for years surrounding the development, assignment, and deployment of aviation assets. It makes for interesting reading, whether in the form of historical fiction, such as W. E. B. Griffin's The Aviators [Book VIII of The Brotherhood of War Series], or more academic texts, such as Dr. Ian Horwood's treatise, Interservice Rivalry and Airpower in the Vietnam War:
