The R9 serial no. is not directly correlated to the year. They began production in 2004, nine years ago, and the latest s/n I have seen is in the high 6000s. Assuming they are sequential this would be less than 1000 per year. However, there have been some factory down times such as the move to Deer Park and Hurricane Sandy. The bottom line is: don't try to figure it out.
