John:

You have now verified what I knew but have never posted -- i.e., that the R9 will do its job in what some evaluators might describe as "a wet environment."   8)

You asked for it, you got it. ;D I dug through my 9mm ammo and found two boxes of Rem UMC, 115gr.
I grabbed 7 rounds and headed out in the rain to see how they do, as I started loading the mag I realized I only grabbed 6 rounds so not wanting to walk the 130 feet back to the house, this will have to do. 8)
Full mag inserted into pup, rack the slide and one is now in the pipe, six squeezes of the trigger and six empties are now on the ground. ;D
If it had not been raining I would have tried a couple of mags. ;)
I believe I fired the UMCs before but could not remember for sure.

Excellent, John.  Now that's dedication.     :)

Hi Yankee 2500,

Have you shot any more of the Remington UMC JHP through your pup.

I was at Walmart a few days ago and that was the only 9mm they had... just wondering if you
got back out to test more of the UMC?

I fired mostly 124gr Gold Dots through my R9 initially - IMO that is the round and the weight that the R9 has the least touble with.  I have a range report that I keep updating, at some point I also started firing Lawman 124gr TMJs.  Honestly I shoot those the most accurately.

The only thing I've had trouble with in Remington Golden Sabres - either the primers are hard or they set back more or both.  i don't know but I'm not the only R9 owner who has ghad failiure to fire with the sabres.

But as far as a self defense round - I like the Winchester 147gr Ranger "T" Series -RA9T.  I pretty consistently penetrates 14" and expands to about .65"

Here is Winchester's cartridge comparison tool:
