I moved this topic to this Forum as it was inappropriate for the Range Report since it is not about the Rohrbaugh. Basically, I have been considering a H&K P7 for home defense. My reasoning is that my wife can handle it easier and more safely than a 1911 or a Glock. The cocking lever is easier for her, the trigger is light and the firearm is quite accurate. I have been shocked by the prices however. A NIB P7m13 for $4300 is on GunBroker. All the reports claim it is an outstanding handgun but was discontinued because of price. Comments? Thanks.

There is a very clean looking HK P7 with a BIN price of $1,015.00 up for auction on GunBroker with one day left in the auction. There have been six bids, the highest of which is $700.00 as this is typed. It could be snagged right now with a BIN commitment. 

I have no relation to or knowledge of the seller other than to note the A+ rating after 103 transactions on GunBroker.

I have been eyeballing a P7 for years and have never jumped.  The guy just relisted this P7 as the $950 bid did not break the reserve.  I talked to him and he says the pistol is in excellent condition, comes with box and all paperwork, and two magqazines.

I have two questions:  Does this pistol have a heel type mag latch or an American Style?

                                   Is the BIN a reasonable price for this gun.?  I really do not know much about the
                                   different models and the auction prices are all over the place.

Any advice would be appreciated.

The P7 has a heel mag release; note the P7m8 above has the side mag release latch. I don't know the current market range for the P7 but that sounds about right for the stated condition.

With the caveats that I have not seen the P7 in question and have no relation to the seller, the asking price would appear to be acceptable for such a piece in "A-grade" condition.

They are excellent guns - I have several PSPs - and the only pistol, IMO, which justifies HK's reputation. 

I keep one as my nightstand gun, but I keep a long arm handy, as well.

I've never had a complaint about my H&K USP-C .40 which is my bedside pistol (with a surefire appended).  Long arm always nearby...who was it that said he carried a pistol so he'd be able to get to his rifle?

I think it was Clint Smith, Owner/Operator of Thunder Ranch, and that the actual quotation was as follows:

“The only purpose for a pistol is to fight your way back to the rifle you should have never laid down.”

That comment, of course, has to be taken in context.
