Recognizing that felt recoil is highly subjective, it has been interesting to note that when firing the two pistols at the same range session the recoil of the straight-blowback G380 appears to be essentially equal to that of the locked-breech R9. The G380 was my EDC before I took delivery of the R9, and it seems quite suitable for its occasional backup role to what I call "The Masterpiece." Neither one of these "pocket rockets" has displayed any vices in the years I have owned them.
The custom silversmith in Gatlinburg who cast the grips for the G380, Malcolm "Mac" McDonell, passed away two years ago on February 28, 2010. He was one of a kind and is sorely missed.
