Took the new stealth pup out for first walk...
« on: April 01, 2011, 09:30:04 PM »
Used WWB 115gr FMJ...1st 2 mags=perfect...was downhill from there :( Pup pretty much failed to properly chamber 1st round of fresh mag at least 10 times...tried 3 rounds rather than 6 and no difference. I did get a few to work..Told my gun guy after and he was surprised it happened with that ammo but said that for sure I should have lubed it before I shot. I ordered GD's from Cabela's the other day as well as Silvertips and I will try once they arrive. I paid $19.99 for the GD's and range had em for $35 so I decided to wait!! Overall...the pup was definitely a little feistier than I anticipated but can see this was a great choice...trigger pull was really really long...looking forward to working out the kinks and spending a long time w/ pup...great looking gun...I figure eventually I'll probably even be able to hit the target ;D..any comments on the chambering problem would be appreciated..thx!

You should have stopped at two mags.  Then all would have been great.  Seriously though, the Gold Dots or Silvertips should do fine.  Let it cool down between mags if you didn't do that; some R9's need that due to the tight tolerances.

Good luck with the Gold Dots and Silvertips.  You should be fine.

Very good advice and indeed some pups are sensitive to heat - two mags then let it cool before firing more.

That said, mine doesn't seem to be heat sensitive and I have fired up to 4 mags with no appreciable cool down and not had any problems. I have shot WWB 115gr and Magtech 115gr as practice ammo with equally good luck; Gold Dots run very well through it and are very accurate.

I'd say give it a good cleaning and lube (I use Gun Butter in mine) and take it out again. If you are not 100% happy don't hesitate to contact Rohrbaugh - they are very good with their customer service and will make your gun run right for you if there is a problem with it.

You may be riding the slide when you chamber the first round. I have had the same problem with wwb. Slingshot it and that should solve the problem.

was concious not to ride the slide so I'll chalk it up to the combo of the ambo and lack of lube....thx guys!
