I don't know this guy but he is trying to leverage the sale toward someone who does not want to wait the leadtime for a Robar R9, (for example), with a price that is several hundred dollars greater than a guy who orders from factory with a substantial leadtime.

This is not uncommon. Remember, "price and value" are two seperate things. Value of a Robar R9 is about $1800.00 but the price is what one is willing to pay. Presuming that someone does not want to wait 12 or 14 weeks, this seller's price is "valid" for the point referenced above.

Right on, ACP.  It's what you're willing to pay, is the factor.

Thank you. I was very fortunate to have acquired my Robar R9 for fair market price (with aded bonus of carbon fiber grips) and it remains my everyday carry gun.

I have guns that have far greater collectable/intrinsic value but the Robar R9 is THE gun for me. This is crazy. I normally spend time, following the purchase of a gun "I can't live without", with contemplation of the next gun; not unlike many of us "gun nuts".

The Robar R9 does it for me and the only gun I see eclipsing this fact is the highly anticipated R45.

I agree.  Just chomping at the bit, waiting on the R45.  Knowing, now, that it's going to be an even longer wait, makes it harder to realize it will come.

You can bet your boots, though, it will be here, at some point.

I'm confused.  What is this about the Elite being discontinued?  The Rohrbaugh site lists for the R9: Standard, Stealth, and Stealth Elite.  it must be the Robar that's discontinued.  I never knew about that one.  There was an Elite with lots of handwork (in a wood presentation box) available for some time but that also seems to be gone.

There's going to be an R45?  Wow, I hope they issue a bionic hand to go with each one; I can just manage the recoil of the R9...

Rohrbaugh just has not kept thier literature up to date. The Robar is still around. The Elite and Elite Premium models are gone.

That's cool.  So Rohrbaugh is establishing a premium market by putting out limited editions.  I'm glad I was willing to spring for my Elite when I did...

What about the Serial Number 133 now on Gunbroker?  Is that really number 33 as the seller suggests or is it 133?  It looks like it has the old grips.

That could mean that the seller has no bids and has taken them off the auction. I haven't looked at the website. Was there time left on the auction or did it expire without any bids?

I have placed bids on gunbroker for guns that subsequently disappeared prior to the allotted time of the auction.

In some cases, the seller is an FFL and puts a disclaimer that they can sell the gun at any time prior to auction termination date.

One time, however, I was bidding on an L42A1 rifle, with original box, and it was a private sale. I was high bidder one moment and zap(!) it was gone. Never found out if seller sold it or had second thoughts.
