Ok, I'm new to Rohrbaughs and don't know why you all call them Pups.  

Is it an acronym or a nickname, or what?

Chris ("R9SCarry"), the author of the R9 FAQ Sheet which is linked to the Forum, came up with the "Pup" nickname and it stuck. I think he was using the nickname to differentiate the R9 from some of the "Big Dogs" in his kennel. (To Chris, the .44 Magnum is a modest caliber.  8) )
