Personally, I'd use the same ammo to break it in that I planned to use when I carry it. Why? Because it really won't require that many rounds to break it in and by using only your carry ammo, you know you're good to go.

WWB is Winchester White Box.  And yes you can get it at your local Walmart.  In my area it is $18.xx for a box of 100.

I'm not sure I agree with Harrydog. I'm a total newbe with this gun (mine is on order) but everything I have read says it's important to practice, practice, practice...  If this is so, then why not use WWB and save some money?

I do agree with the strategy of shooting part of the box you use for actual carry and even of buying a sizable quantity of that ammo to ensure having the same lot number.

Thanks for listening...

Well, you're right of course. Practice is extremely important. But the R9 is not really the type of gun that you want to be regularly shooting a couple hundred rounds through at your range sessions. For one thing, you'd accumulate rounds so quickly that the gun might be worn out in a few years. That's just speculation of course, but with an aluminum frame in a 9mm this small, there is a lot of battering going on. No one knows how long the gun will last, but it's definitely not meant to be a "range gun" that will see thousands upon thousands of rounds. Even the Rohrbaugh brothers say it's meant to be carried a lot and shot a little. Plus, for most people, the recoil is sharp enough that you wouldn't really want to shoot it that much.
You mentioned ammo to break it in and I was merely saying that, to break it in shouldn't take more than a hundred rounds or so, and for that amount, why not use your carry ammo so that you know it's good to go. Yes, it will cost more, but you'll have definitely proven that it's reliable with that ammo.
There's nothing wrong with using WWB to break it in, but I'd still run a few boxes of your carry ammo through it before I carried it.
