smoothness of tirigger???
« on: October 17, 2006, 05:43:02 PM »
okay,  this is Ronc again.  I took my gun out for a 3rd breakin session.  I am happy to report that after 30 rounds, there was not one misfire or failure to eject using winchester WB.  there was, however, a new problem that scared me.  after loading the mag for the 5th time, i found that the trigger pull yielded nothing.  It was not a failure to fire.  it was a failure to cock and hit the brass???  i tried a couple of times.  I then unloaded the gun and manually ran the slide back and forth a few times.  i then pulled the trigger and it performed.  I reloaded the gun and it fired all the rounds in the mag.  I brought it home, disassembled, cleaned,  lubed, and re-assembled.  The trigger is cycling but it feels like it has a burr on it about half way through.  It is not smooth.  Has anyone had such a problem and if so, what needs to be done to fix it?  Thanks for your help  Ronc

I have had that same problem with my 1st R9 and I also have the slight catch about 40% through the trigger pull.

I know what is happening when the trigger becomes "disconnected" from the hammer and I think I know where the catch is comming from.

Who can explaine WHY this strange disconnect happens.

i noticed that if you cycle the trigger when the slide is off, (i don't mean try to pull the trigger and let it hit air, but just cycle it using your finger to stop it from falling down hard), the trigger loses the hammer.  it is like it runs over the top of something and lands down deeper than it would if it had hit the firing pen.  The trigger will not engage the hammer at that point.  However, if you pull the hammer back around 1/8 or 1/4", it will reconnect.  I am wondering if somehow something similar to that happened when i was firing the gun.  It certainly gave me an uneasy feeling because if you do have to pull a gun out, you have to know it is going to fire!!! Otherwise the bad guy will either take it away from you and beat you with it or he will shoot you with his gun while you are trying to figure out what is wrong with yours.  Any way, i am really talking about 2 subjects now:  why the gun failed in the first place and why my trigger is no longer smooth thru the entire pull as it was before.  Thanks for any advice i get.  Ron C

If it was my gun I would call the company.

Good luck.

Mine does the same with the slide off. However, after firing aprox. 100 rounds it never failed to engage the hammer like you described.
