Temp...........FREAKING HOT! 99F and HIGH humidity!

Due to the temp, I only fired 100 rounds. Fifty Winchester Silver Tip 115 gr. and fifty Federal HST 115 gr (Hydro Shok Two).

Recoil, not bad. Not bad at all.

On the Federal HST's I had two strange failure-to-feeds, on the mid point in the magazine it seemed to release two rounds,  I wound up with one round 3/4 chambered and a round that seemed to be released from the mag lips below it. This occured only on the magazines that the seam was visable on, the magazines that the seam had been ground off had zero malfunctions.

On the Silver Tips, 100% RELIABLE

I'm still going to run at least 500 rounds throught the gun. I'd rather use the Federal HST's due to both the cost (HALF of the cost of Silver Tips) and due to personal observation of both rounds in ballistic gelatin. HST's SMOKE Silver Tip's.

Any feelings on the newer magazines? They SEEM to have stronger springs.

Well, time to clean the Rohrbaugh and the magazines. This time I think I'm going to use Tetra Gun grease instead of SuperLube.

Oh yeah, note to self! When you are running a BUNCH of rounds through in a hurry be careful when you rack the slide.......that barrel gets D@MN HOT!

Not sure Pursuit re mag springs now compared with earlier.

Overall pretty good results it seems but sympathize re the heat.

Even up here (PA) blistering mid nineties today and humid as all get out.  Even on a bike run air was too hot!

Take note using Tetra grease if it tends to gather crud fast when gun in use.  I am a renegade re prefering something like Militec1 these days after experiences with my SIG in particular, where the grease actually slowed slide down!

Karl Rohrbaugh recommends letting the R9 cool down after three mags in a row.

Seems like you had a nice session.  I have only shot the silvertps and gold dots.

The two magazines that came with my reconditioned R-9s had a visable weld on the spine. The extra magazines I purchased had been surface ground to remove the visable weld line.

I recently bought another magazine directly from Rohrbaugh.  The new one is finished better than the three earlier ones I own.  The weld along the back of the mag is invisible from the outside.  I disassembled it to check spring length, which is same as before.  Ditto for the follower.  You can see the weld from inside the mag.  Very good craftsmanship - as good as my Sig P239 mags.

At the range today, I had 100% reliability thru four + mags.  I fired a couple of mags, let the pup cool off, fired two more mags plus 4 "cats & dogs" rounds in the bottom of my range bag.  Half of the first four mags were filled with CCI Blazer Brass; the others were Winchester Silvertips.
I guess I'll stick with the Silvertips for carry as I've had NO failures with them - from two different batches.

BTW: After one year & 650 rounds, my R9S finally feels like the slide is on ball bearings when I rack it.  The rails look kinda beat up as detailed in previous photos.  But the gun works.  I don't have any concerns reliability-wise.

I'm on my 4th spring.  
#1 - 200 rounds
#2 - 225 rounds
#3 - 225 rounds
#4 - just started  

I change spring when it becomes two coils shorter than a brand new one.  Haven't made it to 250 rounds yet.

I've made up a little gadget to "exercise" a new spring before I install it in the gun.  Lots easier on the fingers than racking the slide a few dozen times.

Thx for feedback Steve - does seem like 250 is about ''it''.

The point of max interest would seem to be your good results despite spring changes - as I have felt occasionally that folks might have had some issues immediately after a change.
