What perterbs me slightly is that when I inquired about adding Black T to the Rohrbaugh, I was summarily told in definitive terms by Rohrbaugh management that it would void the warranty on my gun.  They did not advise it, and suggested that it would adversely affect the proper operation of the gun.  Funny, in talking to Walter Birdsong, never in his extensive experience with guns from almost every gun manufacturer has his finish done anything but enhance the performance, maintenance, durability, etc. of any gun.  Never has Black T had adverse affects.  The S&W slide treatment that is approved by Rohrbaugh management for future use is 3 times thicker than Black T.  I understand that Rohrbaugh cannot test every gun coating known to man, but they specifically asked me what the treatment was called and the mil thickness of it.  Legally speaking, I suppose they would have to prove that the coating caused the problem.  In the mean time, they would simply refuse my work and return my gun to me (so they say).  I only worry about some defect in materials or workmanship that could crop up that would be the fault of Rohrbaugh in the first place...for that I should be covered, but was told I won't be.

They are very picky about the specs on the slides -- when I asked about checkering the grip, they mentioned there was no way to re-anodize the frame and keep it in spec -- they really are quite reasonable, at least in all my contact w. them -- they're so far behind on trying to keep up on orders, I really doubt they're concerned about losing business to a refinishing company.

What is the G10 grip made from?

Any word on a stainless steel frame model?

Psycho - I do not know the exact chemistry but G-10 as I understand it is a fiberglass-epoxy material - which by all accounts is very machinable.  It is moulded under heat and pressure to produce the main form and pigment addition determines color.  It is also referred to as a phenolic laminate.

Tech data here - http://cryogenics.nist.gov/NewFiles/G10_CR.html  and here - http://www.boedeker.com/ilamg_p.htm

Stainless frame?  Right now I doubt this is even on the horizon - well, as best I can tell.

Put me down as someone wanting an all stainless model as well. Already got the original lite-weight for special occasions now I want a more durable / heavier / stronger model for every day carry.

All I want is a stainless frame and a rubber grip. Stipling would be nice, but that's easy enough to deal with, with skateboard tape.

You could practice with a stainless frame gun more often and not feel so bad about it either.

But I'd rather have the durability anyways. I have issues with Kahr, but not enough to make me pick up a Rohrbaugh in its current aluminum framed configuration. It still tempts me though from time to time.

I also had issues with Kahr and gave into temptation and got the Rohrbaugh in it's current configuration but would still like one in all stainless  ;D

I called the Rohrbaugh office today to ask about any new changes occuring officially in the next 6 months like self lubricating pistol and was told that they are so back logged in orders that there is currently no changes avaliable.  The G 10 is planned but not currently availiable.

I guess they don’t want anyone messing with their product, then returning it back with a sad puppy dog look on their face. Back home I have a mechanic who specializes in auto-electronics. Any car I or any of my friends/family has ever owned would get a car alarm put in by him, & he always said “Don’t let anyone else screw with the alarm!”
