Hi Folks,

Since there are a limited number of us, this is the place to be.

I purchased R13xx on March 4th. at a Gun Show in Pasadena Texas. R13xx's born on date as evidenced by Eric's autograph and date on the sealed fired ctg. case envelope is Feb 27th. of this year.   ::)

The next day, the wife and I were at the range and disposed of 151 rounds of WW white box 115fmj. We had 4 or 5 FTL's but other than that, everything is fine. This is going to take a little getting used to but so did my 3" Para Stealth Carry .45.

The 5yd. and 10 yd. lines were crowded so we had to start out on the 15yd. line. We were able to keep all shots on the paper and as we were getting a little more familiar with R13xx, we closed that down a bit. The last 20 or so rounds were all within a 6" group (had to really work on the ole' flinching thing though). The recoil while rather sharp really wasn't all that bad but it did play heck with the lower edge of my trigger finger.   :o  (my P3AT does that also)

All in all, we're very happy with ouy R9s and there may be another in our future for me.  ;)  The wife has sort of adopted it for herself.   :-*  The original plan a year ago after we saw the R9's at the Houston NRA convention and show was to purchase two of them ........ until we found out the price and availability.

Welcome to the "campfire," and thanks for the range report.  If kept properly cleaned and lubed, your "pup" should prove to be absolutely reliable.

Hi Folks,

Thanks for the warm welcome.

That first outing was a good one.  :)  Apparently the WW white box 115 gr. fmj is pretty clean ammo because when I took the pup down, it really wasn't all that dirty and there was still a fair amount of Super Lube in the appropriate areas.

We are looking forward to our next trip to our local range.  8) It's interesting to see peoples reaction to that tiny gun making that big bang.  :o

One interesting thing I noticed on the primers of the fired cases, the firing pin indention was keyhole shaped  ??? instead of being round; anybody have any ideas on this one?

I still have about 800 rounds of that WW white box on hand but I think I would like to try a few other brands/types. Right now, I'm shopping around for some Gold Dots and some Silvertips at a decent price. Of the four local stores, only one had one beat-up box of 20 rds. 124gr Gold Dots for $17.95.  :o  It looks like I'll have to find them online. If anyone has a source with good prices, I would sure appreciate a lead.

Not sure of best place for ammo right now - supplies seem less plentiful than a ways back plus prices seem to have edged up.  Ammoman.com is usually quite a good source.  You could also do a web search on ammo and see what comes up, and then explore for stock and prices.  It's a while since I ''went shopping'' having stocked up a bit last year.

The primer indent - not too uncommon with semi's really - one reason I think can be - the initial indent of course is FP at ignition but - before pin has fully retracted, the case pressure on bolt face is sustained long enough to include beginning of extraction - case hits ejector and so creates slight side slip effect.  I seem to recall Glocks exhibit this sometimes.  Not something IMO to be concerned over.

Check out all possible SD rounds you may want to use and ensure good function.

Welcome to the forum.  I have had pretty good luck finding a wide variety of ammo at reasonable prices at Natches Shooters Supplies.

Good luck with your R9.  They are great little pistols.
