Need some help from all the members holster ???
« Reply #30 on: May 13, 2005, 02:26:45 PM »
>>One of the reasons I took up CC is because I was crippled some years back with a work related injury (jumped one too many Crocks or Dragons back in my Smithsonian Zoo Biologist days).  So...even though I am a fair sized, powerful person by nature - unfortunately my quick move and running days are over...period.  So whether I am in Tevas and shorts (most of the time) or decked out in a suit with fancy leather shoes (very rare) - my ability to fight or run is not going to be what saves the day...enter the 'Lil Pup, or a big brother...

My lifestyle also dictates how I carry to a degree.  I am big on pocket carry - either in a vest, or cargo-type shorts, and I am also quite natural with belly bags.  FYI, I rarely use any of my belly bags specially made for CC...now-a-days I mostly use small Eagle Creek types with a thin belt...which virtually disappear with my large frame.

So regarding CC...I say, to each their own...whatever works for them.  I may not be not be as quick on my feet as I used to be (like Chris, I also used to run the 100 yard dash), but my carry weapons are generally fast to appear, when needed...TW<<

Hey TW, I like you are disabled. I have a motor nueron disorder ie: ALS/SMA and can't walk as well. I was in old days fast on feet both in football and hockey. I  was very fast in the 100 yard dash and suprised a lot of folks in ISPC with foot speed. I did carry in back pocket with Seecamp and now carry with fanny pouch or vest pocket. Its hard to draw from pocket in pants or belt holster when seated with any speed.    Tom

Shucks - we are a motley crew of less than perfectly able eh!!!  This brings home the CC deal very much to the fore, that's for sure.

I am disadvantaged in what I might call - a ''fragmentary'' fashion (No - body not (quite) falling apart - yet!).  I just have a ''collection'' of problems.  Low back is one - partial loss of good use of left arm, ankles that might let me run (a bit) one day but not another - a collection that does render me much less able both to flee or take on any adversary in a true physical sense.

Annoying thing is - as son tells me - ''but dad, you don't look your age - and you look so fit''.  Yeah right - ''son, ever heard of 'appearances can be deceptive' "??  :P

So for me too - carry is the best insurance and for the minor discomfort imposed - that is a small price to pay.  I will tho as long as able, make it a point to avoid any situation I can and maintain my best level of awareness.

I want any and all carry weapons I own and use - to never have to receive a notch on the grips!!! ;D
