Finish ?

Is the silver finish polished stainless and the matte simply not polished?

I was told the R9 came in either silver or matte.

R.J.,
I use your Seecamp front pocket holster everyday. So a week ago I sent you the money for the same holster with two mag holders for the R9 ( Cmdr. Kerry M. Davis )

P.S. In 27 years of law enforcement I've tried all the best holsters, until I found the finest (yours)!

 Hi
So we meet again.
There was a choice but for now there is only the "two-tone".

Factory having a problem with the silver,  it may be offered later, if the problem is resolved...

Thanks for the very nice endorsement..

The ''silver'' is an anodic finish on the aluminum alloy frame - and was indeed proving tricky for consistent results - too many rejects.  Thus the change to the current finish.  I doubt the ''silver'' finish will return unless major advances are made in the process.

I like the black finish best.

Actually, it would be really nice if Rohrbaugh would come out with a slide finished in black to match the frame.  A darker, nonreflective finish would reduce the likelihood of light reflecting off the gun giving off the shooter's location.

Then again, I've read the contrary:  a shiny finish draws the bad guy's attention to the gun and may help cause him to start acting in a more civilized manner.

Hi Bill,

I would love an all black finish, but I really like the R9S I have with the silver and grey too. You should really try one. I'll bet you would find yourself leaving your Guardian .380 and Glock 26 in the safe. The Rohrbaugh fits it's niche so well, I have actually been thinking about selling my Guardian .380 and Glock 26.

Hi Frank,

I am definitely considering getting a Rohrbaugh but have a couple of other priorities ahead of it right now.

If it turns out as expected, I doubt I would sell the NAA .380 and Glock 26 because:

1)  Guns, like any mechanical devices, can and do fail, and it is nice to have something else to use while one is getting repaired.  The NAA .380 and Rohrbaugh would provide good redundant capability in this regard.

2)  The Glock is big enough so that it is no doubt easier and faster to shoot than the Rohrbaugh.

I can easily see the NAA .380 spending more time in the safe when I get a Rohrbaugh, and being a bit more comfortable when the Glock must stay home.

Does anyone have an idea as to how many silver frames have been produced compared to the other frame finishes?

Don't know the answer as to how many silver frames were made but it is a sure fire collector's item.
Ever see companies that try to manufacture rarity? Example is collectible pottery "limited to 25 firing days". What does that mean? How many fit in the kiln at one time; 40 or 40,000?
Look at the Winchester model 65. it was an update to the model 92 and they made few of them . It failed in the market 70 years ago and now it is valuable.
Hold onto you silver R9's you lucky guys.
