NP3 200-300 break in period

I guess it is just for care and maintenance but I was surprised by the below from Robar's site. Did many of you do this, or just let it happen with practice and not worry about it? Though I guess some R9s don't see this many rounds ever which begs the question why they would need NP3.

"If you have a firearm completely refinished in NP3, a period of 200 to 300 rounds is typically required for break in with quality gun oil or grease. After this period you can run your weapon lightly lubricated or completely dry! If you've chosen Roguard, the same number of rounds apply however, we suggest keeping a minimal amount of synthetic lubricant in the higher wearing areas."

They could be getting the NP3 for cosmetic reasons, to protect the gun from rusting, or to slick up internal and mating surfaces.  

IMO I doubt many get it primarily to eliminate the need to lubricate their gun.  It is just a side benefit.

 I think that is a standard CYA legal disclaimer. I had a P226 done (steel only) and it has run perfectly for 1200 rounds. My Robar edition R9 has 97 rounds with never a hint of a problem. I would not concern myself about a break in period. 50 rounds at the range should prove that it is working just fine.

I sure as heck did not get guns done to run dry!

That just goes against my grain.


And the Rogaurd is just not quite as lubritious as the NP3.
