Howdy all,
First I should thank y'all for the excellent participation and contribution of wisdom that the members of the R9 community share on this forum. As a new owner I greatly appreciate this Rohrbaugh "family".

My question is in regards to lubricants for the R9. As far as I know the official recommendation from Rohrbaugh is to use a grease lubricant exclusively (although Kwesi may be able to correct me here). That said during Q2/3 of last year there was a smattering of threads suggesting other oil/TFT based lubricants and there seemed to be an implication that such treatments were under consideration by Rohrbaugh. I am very interested to know if anyone has knowledge of a change in official lubricant policy (never thought I would type that phrase) or if y'all have any particular products you strongly recommend.

Mobile 1, Miltec-1, Superlube, RZ-50, TW-25, Hornady one-shot, Tetra-grease, Eezox, Slide-glide and Ballistoil have all been suggested. Add to this something of a debate over teflon-based lubes and it may benefit us all to find consensus (or at least a "commonly-accepted" list if this is a personal preference decision). Are others sufficiently interested in this topic to create a survey? I believe this is possible in the forum - my apologies to the webmaster if not - in which case I can setup such a survey through another method.

I personally prefer/use Brownell's 'Action Magic'....basically molybdenum disulfide grease....a little goes a long way.

There are a number of excellent gun lubrication products now available. My personal preference is Ballistol:

Welcome to the forum!!

I personally still use a touch of Superlube on a few spots,and then a light coat of BF CLP..I have a lot of this,and it seems to work as well for me as the "early" recommended Mobile 1..

Any well made lube,appropriately applied,should work fine on the pup!!

Thanks all for the feedback and the warm welcomes. It seems I have a few lubricants to try.

It seems that just as it is the quality of the shooter that ultimately determines a pistol's accuracy, it is the shooter's cleaning discipline that determines a lubricant's performance.

In case you did not see the "latest lube" part in the link.

It is here Latest Recommended

Any good lube used properly should work!!

Brenden, Thanks for the link. Is there an advantage to using oil over the Super Lube? I use a horsehair brush to put a thin coat just like the pictures and the gun seems happy with it, but if there is a better way I'm all ears.

While I was cleaning a lower class firearm today I pulled out
a can of Eezox and noticed that it is quite a "rust prevent-
ative" by its own admission. I coated a higher class pistol
with it and was quite pleased to see this additional benefit.

i just got my R9 i ran 25 rounds threw it tonight and then cleaned and lubed it with Miltec-1 followed the directions relubed it and now it should be good for 2000 rounds until the next relube

i also use weapon shield on my other weapons which i really like

+1 on EEZOX. Works great for more than guns...including pesky door locks and ink-stained cargo shorts.

EEZOX works for me. I also started to experiment with Nanolube recently and that seems to work real well.
