FTF Problem

Have had no problems until this morning. I loaded 6 rounds in mag. Pulled back the slide and JAM. A hard pop with the heal of my hand and the round loaded. Then I tried 5 in mag, and round loaded but not smoothly. Then 4 and no problem. Switched mags. Same scenario. I broke down the R9, cleaned and reassembled twice. No help. I did not have this problem at range yesterday. Basically I now have 4 round mags. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry to hear of your problems..

Shooting the same ammo as before?Same lot #?
Looks like GDHPs?

Lubed well-sometimes this makes a big difference..My barrel has a bit more lube on it than your's in the pic..
Don't know if this may make a difference,but thought I would mention it..

Ammo OAL, and lube would be what I would look at IMO..W/O being there..

I had this same type of jam in a new Kel-Tec P-3AT with
Cor Bon 90 gr. .380 ammo. It was so frusratating that I
put the gun back in the box after clearing the difficult jam.
After seeing your post I cycled 12 rounds of WWB .380
through it and it did better each time with no jam.
I wouldn't have expected this from an R9 but would suggest
relubing it and cycling some standard ball ammo through it.

I have experienced this same problem a long while back with a lot of different ammo.  All I can say is this:  jams while cycling the action manually tell you very little about how those same rounds will function while actually fireing the postol.  So put 6 in the mag and one in the chamber and shoot it and see how it functions.  Yes I know this a little different from about every other autoloader out there but this is one very unusual and unique pistol.

Thanks to every one of you for your responses and suggestions as I did try them all. As it turns out the recoil spring was the problem. WS6 was right on the money, as usual. I replaced the original spring with a new one and it appears I'm back to normal. Surprises me that the spring gave out after only 117 rounds. But... what do I know?

I had a similar problem with my pup early on.My fix came with new mag spring and new recoil spring.haven't had any feed difficulty since.The new heavier springs have solved lots of the former reliability problems.
Good insurance against the OS moment.
