Some competition
« on: February 09, 2006, 03:57:04 PM »
While Rohrbaugh was busy engraving their pistols, their competitors were busy designing new ones:

KelTec released a single stack 9mm.  I think it's a little bigger than a R9, but you could buy 3 of them for the price.

Well, I am not sure if that was intended to be sort of snide, but...

Obviously Rohrbaugh is not doing the engraving themselves.  Mostly they are focusing on improving their product.  In fact, even the new finishes and the the S&W partnership is all about improving product and increasing efficiency of production.

When one's entire production capacity is sold out for months into the future, designing a new gun isn't too high on anyone's list.

My comments on the KT are on the thread in the Other Guns forum.

Competition?  No more than the Chevrolet Cobalt is competition for the Chevrolet Corvette, both of which will get one from Point A to Point B.  But a Corvette . . . .   8)

Sounds interesting. Will it have a repeat striker capability? If so, I'll be giving it serious consideration. If not, I'll stick with my Skyy-1 (shown on bottom right next to my R9) ...

From what I can see and read, the new 9mm KelTec functions just like the P32 and the P3AT, which means it does not have a second strike capability.

I am still waiting for more info - and hopefully some actual range/shooting comments.

The link isn't working for me.  I doubt that it's actually a bad link and instead I imagine it has something with being on a government computer in the Middle East.
