Typing disappears during Post
« on: January 26, 2006, 12:27:41 PM »
Somehow the wrong key is pushed on my Dell notebook, and the typing disappears during posting, and everything has to be prepared again.

Does anybody know how to recover the text when running Microsoft Windows?

I tried the Backspace key, but nothing happens.

I'm tempted to type it elsewhere, then do a 'cut and paste' operation.   However, that often results in excessive line feeds (LF).

Any ideas?

Bill

Bill - that can be infuriating!!  One or two suggestions tho -

1) If you type up in plain text editor with no returns and just wrap - it will copy/paste just fine.

2) As you proceed with typing, periodically select all and copy to clipboard (ctrl+c) - if it goes south then start over and paste in your last clipboard ''save''.  To be even more sure, dump that interim clipboard text into text editor as a ''holding'' move.

3) Hit ctrl+z - which is ''undo'' - it will sometimes get you back one stage.

I do notice at times if you hit ctrl+ ''something'' - it can take you off in another direction because it's a keyboard command - again undo may get you back.

Best tho IMO is select and copy at stages thru the typing.

Thank you, Chris.  I will experiment some more with it.

I think you are right.  A select and copy may be the solution.

Maybe the guy that wrote this program will have some instructions about it.  I'll also look into that possibility.
