The modern ''foamies'' are very good for this - the advent of the brushless motor too has meant great power to weight, plus Lithium batteries.
In fact the tricks are quite easy (not to take away the kid's skills!) and I try this stuff outdoors with gas motor planes - which unfortunately being heavy - fall a tad quicker if mistakes made!
Good performance tho - one of these lil' fella's can be yours all in for approx $200 or so IIRC.
I have a boatload of vid clips of full size aerobatics as well as 1/3 scale stuff too - wish I had links to point you folks to them but they are all on my HDD. Some superb stuff.
Thx for the link tracker.

Bill - just saw your last post. Yes, these are foam sheet construction - VERY light and servo's are miniature etc. The brushless motors allow enough power that thrust can well exceed plane's weight and so hover vertical is a cinch - tho a lot of adjustment of control surfaces needed to maintain it. Usually a lot of rudder tweaks plus enough aileron to compensate for motor torque.
