Your editorial states that “the problem isn’t guns, which New York strictly regulates” (“A New York State of Fear,” April 14). But as I watched the video of terrified commuters running from the shooting, I thought the opposite. The problem is guns. Forty-one U.S. states issue concealed-handgun carry permits to law-abiding citizens on request. Unfortunately for those commuters that day, New York is one of only nine states that do not.

Yup, I'm glad that I live in a free state.

Fortunately permit-less carry is now an option to law abiding citizens in 25 states and increasing.
