Excellent advice.  However this is predicated on having a decent flashlight immediately to hand when an unexpected social contact occurs on a dark street.  Fumbling for the light while presenting the weapon could be an issue, at least for me.

Sights are for the 2nd or 3rd shot - get the gun out and shoot

When purchasing a new pistol, night sights are the last item I look for when making a decision.

 Not really needed for close-quarter defensive shooting.
