Rohrbaugh / SHOT Show Updates
« on: January 06, 2013, 12:20:53 AM »
Hello all,

I recently heard from the Rohrbaugh brothers and wanted to update everyone.

Following all the problems with Superstorm Sandy, the factory is finally back to full production as of Jan. 2.  However, Rohrbaugh will not be at the SHOT Show this year, and there are no new products to announce at this time.

I am sure this is disappointing for many of you (and me too), but it's really not hard to understand.  Karl lost his house and his boat in the storm, and others were similarly affected.  This has been VERY disruptive, and they all have been focused on rebuilding their business and their lives.

I know that we all wish the Rohrbaugh extended family the best in getting through this...and they will.  But, the time and effort that could be spent on developing new models has been spent just surviving.

Of course, I will still be covering the SHOT Show -- I just won't be making my first stop at the Rohrbaugh booth.  More on that later.

Thanks,

Duane

That is bad news; I mean personally how the storm hit Karl and the business so hard.  Knowing that,  I could care less about new products.  I just hope and wish them the best at getting their lives back in order.

Thanks Duane

Thanks for the update.  I hope that 2013 is a better year for them!  Hopefully life can get back to normal for them as the year progresses...

The blow inflicted on the Rohrbaughs and their neighbors on Long Island by Hurricane Sandy was devastating and would have defeated lesser men and women. The Rohrbaugh family has pulled together, as close-knit families do in crisis situations.  They now have their factory back in full production. Their absence from SHOT 2013 will leave a void at the show. The finest pocket pistol yet designed will not have a booth there this year. But do not forget that the R9 remains the overall smallest and lightest pistol ever designed for the 9mm Parabellum cartridge. The R9's CNC machining of the finest stainless steel and aircraft aluminum added to its hand crafted assembly containing none of the expendable polymer material that is so favored by the mass-producers of firearms these days have already earned the R9 a place in the pantheon of the world's finest firearms.

Rohrbaugh may not be at SHOT 2013, but they will be back, stronger than ever. As my Irish grandmother would have said, "The cream will always rise." Meanwhile, in my opinion the R9 has already achieved the status of "a cult pistol" -- right up there with the Browning M1911, the Browning Hi-Power, the Walther PPK, the Heckler & Koch P7, and the Seecamp LWS 32.
