Alternative for magazine extension for grips
« on: July 22, 2012, 09:21:04 PM »
Increase the strength in your fingers, wrist and forearms.

Everyday I workout to increase the strength in my hands and forearms.  I've noticed that I can shoot a lot longer standing offhand without getting fatigue in my arms, and my scores went up.  I've never had a "limp wrist" failure with any gun.

I think it's an overlooked aspect of shooting in general, but with the little Rohrbaugh, I think strong wrists would make a difference in firing it.

You know, its odd. I keep watching my GF do all of those
exercises nude in front of me and I don't seem to be
getting any stronger. Maybe if she does them in double
time.........and more jumping........yes, more jumping.

I have never had any issues with gripping the pup, after 40+ years in the building trades, swinging a hammer all day will definitely improve your grip.  ;D
But many people who own pups are in the Arthritis age group and other muscular and skeletal issues and exercise is not a good option.

For several months I've been doing hand, wrist and arm strengthening (along with other exercise).  I do have arthritis in my wrists and some in my hands.  Over that interval my grip has improved, I no longer have a tendency to "limp wrist" (actually "loose grip") when shooting the pup one-handed.  Accuracy and control of muzzle flip has improved.  Exercise is the way to go if it is not too painful to do.
