Feeling NAKED "with" the Rohrbaugh (PHOTOS)
« on: October 01, 2012, 07:15:52 AM »
I've carried naked for most of my adult life.
What I mean by that is, no holster. One of
the reasons I was attracted to a Kel-Tec P-11
wasn't its cheap price but the Add-On Belt
Clip. If years ago others like Smith or Colt
made a similar Belt Clip I would have preferred
to carry them.

The Pup isn't similarly endowed. So, whats a
Naked Carrier Guy to do? I was in the process
of having a Machinist fabricate a clip for the
VZ Grips similar to the Kel-Tec when I stumbled
across "Versacary". It looks like a Naked Guys
prayers have been answered.

I suspect most of you are Whips and Chains and Leather Holster
guys but me........I'd rather be Naked.

Will it hold the pistol securely when you run, jump or lie down?

Hi backupr9, the short answer is.......yes.
It does it very well. I like the plastic clippy
thing very much and its still growing on me.
My only concern is its longevity. I guess if
plastic furniture on AR-15's hold then this
should. I don't think it would stand up to
abuse though. Their inexpensive so I bought
several in different sizes. At some point I
may fabricate one of my own design in
aluminum but thats rather far off if at all.

B,

I've seen those before and it's certainly an affordable alternative. I had the Covert Carrier installed on my VZ CF grips. From my experience, it's position on the grip is more comfortable and secure while in the waistband when compared to the location of the clip on the slide area with the Kel-Tec. On the other hand, you really feel it in your palm. It's not bad when shooting and in the heat of battle, one would never feel it. However, for me the trade off is having a comfortable carry situation and like you, I prefer to carry naked...

Hi scar,

I had seen that but the placement of
the clip on the grip kinda' put me off.
I'd have to try it before I buy it and
I don't know anyone with one I could
handle.

That is one fine looking customized PUP!
I love the blue VZ grips on the silver gun.

I am not certain I can use that style clip. Looks like it would be difficult to hold onto while shooting. Seems it would dig into your palm for us right handers

What I like about Billib's holster compared to the Covert is that the trigger guard is covered.

Thanks Z. As I said on another thread, Bob's worth if phenomenal, to say the least. I agree, the silver really makes the blue pop. As for he clip, you can feel it but as I stated above, it's a trade off.

B,

I would have liked to have done the same before I went with it but was in the same situation where I couldn't try it. Had to roll the dice.

Hi Reinz, sorry I missed your comment.
I've carried many years without covering
the triggers on various pistols and it depends
on the pistol weather or not covering the trigger
would be important, at least to me. A Cocked and
Locked pistol with a Hair Trigger would be important
(to me) to cover the trigger. A pistol like the Pup
(again, to me) wouldn't be very important. Preferable
sure, but a deal breaker, no. I like that the Trigger is
protected (on one side) but because the trigger pull on
the Pup  is around 5000 lbs. I wouldn't lose any sleep
if it wasn't.

Well, it sometimes feels like 5000 to my arthritic hands.
I'm glad its smooth.
