I spent three months in Oklahoma (June, July & August) at Ft Sill. I can tell you about the weather for each one of those months, HOT, HOT & HOT, also DRY & DUSTY when it wasn't DOWN POURING RAIN like a cow pi$$ing on a flat rock. ;D ;D
Other than that it was quite enjoyable. ;D

Exactly right.  You happen to be stuck in SW Oklahoma, during a record setting heat wave.  Yeah, that would be putting it mildly.  The only people I think that had a worse stretch of heat were down in SE Texas.

I put $5500 into a new condenser and a-coil for my home a/c system in July.  My neighbors both a heat strokes during that heat wave.  It was just incredible.

Scary story - and I am glad that there was a happy ending.  I think you showed amazing restraint in not using your weapon.  Not sure what the SD laws are there - but in Florida I don't think the BGs would have been able to run away.  I can only hope that if I ever find myself in that position that I am as prepared as you were.  Thanks for sharing.

I like black guns also but it struck me as I was reading your encounter post that a sliver of silver showing may be slightly more visible to the perp than all black, especially at night. The main thing is that you were protected and that is very persuasive no matter what the color of the gun. Carrying a gun is like wearing a seat belt: you only need it when there is a problem, but which time is that?

I just read this post.

Let me add a warm welcome, a congratulations on your new R9 Stealth and, most of all, my compliments on your preparedness, quick thinking, fast reactions and staying cool under duress.  Way to go!
