REALLY GOOD AMMO BUYS
« on: April 16, 2011, 11:22:39 AM »
I know in another post people thought that Cabellas sale buys were good.   I have mentioned the wisdom of buying from LE distributors rather than from regular commercial sales, simply to get lower prices and 50 round boxes.   Here are some examples from a favorite distributor that I use regularly, prices as of today.  They are currently out of non +P Speer but they will get more and the +P variety is used by some of us in other things.  They have a lot of calibers and are both a LE and commercial distributor.   I have dealt with SGA extensively over the last two years and their shipping is usually $14 to $16 for ammo in 500 to 1000 rd lots.   I receive my ammo in three days from time of order,  but then Oklahoma and Colorado are close.

Aside from what the market will bear and supply and demand, why does 380 ammo cost more than 9mm ?
Less brass in the shorter case and less copper and lead in the lighter bullet.  :o ;D

Probably because of a smaller market share and made in lesser quantities in the manufacturing process.  The bullet is .355 rather than .356 of the 9mm and of course the case is smaller than a 9mm.
