Well I purchased a Robar last week and pocket carried (empty chamber) with no holster for a few days. Found a thin J-frame holster that held the R9s ok and used it for a day or so. I received the loaner desantis "karma" holster a few days ago and will conceal with it until my Meco shark split design arrives. (thanks Reinz for the holster!!!!!)
This is the first solid week I have carried ever, I kept it in my rear pocket. It feels great, I opted not to wear scrubs this week. I thought I had deep pocketed pants (Mountain Khakis and North Face), but I find I see the shiny back end of the gun when I look back down into/at my pocket.
My wife says she can't see it, I did find when I bent down that it had to be visible so I opted to pull out a shirt tail and avoid bending down while at the mall today.
I Stopped by the range and tried out the silver tips that arrived a few days ago. Shot 12 rounds and I was done, If I ever get in a gun fight, I will have to stop at 12 rounds and call time out to let my hand rest....no it's not that bad at all. But I was ready to move over to the Glock 17 to finish the range session.
I found the silver tips to feel more snappy than the federal hollow points I picked up at the range last week. But, its been a week since I shot ithe federals and its hard to compare a week later.
At 10-15 feet I was able to keep a nice tight pattern. (few inches easily) I found with moderatly slow fire it is very accurate, of course as I shoot faster the pattern opens; but is very effective. I am impressed with the gun, maybe the stealth would be easier to conceal. But I really like the robar finish and feel it will be durable for many years.
I almost named this thread thead "does my butt look big in this holster" as I found the tempation to mirror check for printing to great and also humorous.
I had purchased several J frames thinking that those would be easily concealed, I gave up after a few attempts to carry; but I did not invest in a great holster.
I am extremely happy with the Rohrbaugh purchase, I might purchase another (almost got the Farmie last week).
For several years I have been looking for something greater than .380 that I could easily conceal. There are folks willing to completely change their warbrobe and stuff 1911s in all types of places to conceal; At this point in my life its not for me. But with the Rohrbaugh I don't have to sacrifice much to have a 9mm. If I anticipate a higher threat level likely I could always add on a full size and keep the R9 as backup.
I am glad the forum was were for me to read to help me decide, I post this hoping someone on the fence might find this usefull.
