I have shot six or seven different brand / weights of ammo with no problems.

I'm probably the only one on this Forum that only uses one ammo, and that's Winchester 115 gr. Silvertips.  This was the first ammo I tried, and performed without a flaw, and was recommended.

Several on the Forum said to try the Silvertips and Gold Dots and what worked the best to use it.  Well, the Silvertips worked so well that I didn't need to try anything else, so I stocked up.

Winchester is now producing Silvertips again, so they should be available in June.  I'm not saying that the Silvertips is the only ammo the R9 will shoot, as John, here on the Forum has tried 7 brands and they all worked well in his Robar coated R9.

This post should not be construed in any manner as this is what I choose to do and the Silvertips work and save me a lot of grief.

I checked my firing pin free play and it looks good to me so I went out and purchased some Federal American Eagle 115gr FMJ.  I fired all 50 rds with out any FTF so the ammo is the problem.  RFC recommended  Silvertips, Gold Dot & American Eagle only so no Hornady Critical Defense for my Pup & that's too bad.

Yep!  Stick with the recommended ammo and you should be good to go.

Cordy,
That is one of the best examples of using the proper ammo in the pup. It is unfortunate about CDs but Hornady has shot themselves in the foot by using hard primers. Their ads are outstanding, however, and the ammo had great promise but one big weak link.
