Fifth outing today with the pup. I've only been firing about 25 rounds per outing but have noticed improvement each time out. Shot a 10 round group at 7 yards with 9 rounds in a 3" circle, best I've done so far. The pup has a sharp bite but you get used to it and can concentrate on accuracy as opposed to anticipating the "crisp" recoil. Another gun club member who really is an expert handgun marksman gave me a compliment and said I should show up for the backup gun plate shoot. Not sure if my pup is ready for its first show but I'm thinking about it... :)

Park,

Welcome. I enjoyed your automobile analogy. Sig and Glocks are great and I concur that they are far better for shooting multiple boxes with greater ease and comfort than the R9. However, nothing beats the R9 for concealability and you are, after all, shooting a serious cartridge in a small package.

The only downside to buying consecutive S/N guns is that they retain their value more if they are made into "safe queens", if that is the right terminology.

You don't impress me as a guy who wants to  keep the consecutive R9s away from the range. Don't know if you are still considering the second R9 but those are my thoughts.

I visit my pup's sibling from time to time. The kennel owner is taking good care of it and promised me that he would find a good home and I told him to pass along my name and number to the new owner. Maybe we'll get the pups together for an outing in the future.

That is good.  Will be nice for the siblings to have a visit now and then.    :)
