At the gun shop today
« on: December 30, 2004, 07:23:24 PM »
The Mrs. and I had some errands to run "up North" here in Mi. and I told her I would buy her lunch if we could stop at "Jay's", a very very large firearms dealer here in Mi.  She went to the stuffed teddys and candles and I went straight for the hand guns..  A couple of fellows were handling various models of Kimbers, nice piece I have had 2...  We were talking about the Kimbers and Smiths and having fun..  And then I remembered what was in my right front jeans pocket!!!  I wanted to show them my little jewel so badly, but sadly couldn't in that arena!!!!  There wasn't even any sense in trying to tell them about it without a visual!!!  You should have seen the folks buying guns with their Christmas money... :)  Jim

''Guess what I got in MY pocket''  ;D :P

Been there Jim - very similar situation - just itching to get the pup out and show to all!  Best I can do - is, as today - let a few folks at a shoot have a look and try it.

There seems to be a pattern .... initially - not sure and not overkeen ... plus ''How much?!''  By time a coupla mags have gone downrange and the grip aspect is buttoned up - ''Hmmm ... nice - I think I want one''!!!

I always emphasize - this is a POCKET pistol .... and in 9mm!  Once folks have gotten that fixed firmly and see also the fine engineering, they can better understand the cost and ... they appreciate the quality.

Jim, Jays may just charge a "couple of hundred more than people realize.. :o
They have a LOT of choices but good prices are less than desirable..IMO ;)
That said-I have bought more than one there over time.. 8)

Hey Brenden, I agree!!!  Jay's is a great place to go to check many guns out, however, you better purchase some where else as they are just a little under suggested retail!!!  I don't know how they get so many sales with their high prices!!  Jim

They have always been a great place to "fondle" and view ,Handguns always seem a bit high, but some of their Long guns can be had more reasonable..

I did ask them a couple of months ago about Rohrbaugh availability and they had no idea what I was talking about.. :o

If you think Jay's has few good deals, check out Cabela's in Dundee. All of the firearms are sold at full retail, and on somedays you see people standing three deep to buy them. The problem with Cabela's is that they have few handguns.
