I got a sample of the grease Bill - tho the guy who owns Militech when I spoke to him said that treatment with the oil still did the trick.

Anyways - he sent me a sample tube of grease and I am evaluating that over time on R9 and my daily carry SIG.

Chris, I bet the oil is adequate.  One thing for sure, the metal is slippery.

After trying the oil sample, I went ahead and purchased some oil from them.

It may be somewhat controversial, but I do believe that US military forces use it on their firearms.

After thinking about it, I still feel more comfortable seeing some grease on the R9, either Militec or SuperLube, in addition to the Militec-1 oil which was applied with my wife's hair dryer.

Bill,

Having used Miltec on a Glock, I agree.

Tracker,

I had been using it a couple of years, and was pleased to see that Teddy Jacobson recommended it.

Yes, Teddy loves the oil but I get the impression he doesn't
use or care for any grease on pistols. I have used both
but I used the Miltec grease and oil on the glock and
likewise on a Car-15.

FWIW, our local Cabela's store turns out to carry Super Lube, in the Gun Department!

No where else in the state of UT seems to have it, not rod and reel, bike or hardware stores.
Go figger.

I accidently got some Militec-1 oil on the outside of the slide on my Glock 36 .45 auto.  It became difficult to operate the slide because it was slippery.  Even take-down was effected.

Now I take extra precaution to avoid external surfaces.

I could not get Super Lube through a local source and I read on another thread on here you could go to Radio Shack and by the stuff under the label 'Lube Gel'.  Radio Shack stock number 64-2326.  Three ounce tube is $1.97.

Just called my local Radio Shack and they have lots of it in stock. $!.97/tube. I'm gonna go get me some...

Yes, I find that the Super Lube collects gun powder and gets icky at around 50 rounds, that's why the gun has to be broken down so often. I find viscous oils do the same, so regular cleaning is a must. But remember the purpose of the gun and don't obsess over Super Lube. Just buy it and use it.  The end.

Good info on the Radio Shack stuff; thanks!

I've been using Militech's TPW-25 grease, which works really well (costs a fortune, though) and does not attract crud so much. I've found that the gun runs longer (maybe 75 rounds) without schmootzing up with the Militech grease.

I've been using that because I can't find the factory-endorsed Superlube, though. There's a new ACE that just opened down the street, however, and now the Radio Shack tip . . .

I was told by a Super Lube official about the Radio Shack tip. It's exactly the same as the Super Lube with Syncolon (PTFE). It's OK to use it. They have a liquid version of it, too.  The benefit of this stuff is it is purely synthetic, much more pure than anything else. No contaminants like in fossil oils. I might be making this up so check with a reliable source;^)

Good looking out on the Radio Shack lube! It is cheap and easy to find, and it darn sure looks and acts the same as Super Lube. Many thanks!  :)
