Good point, Enigma! I hereby retract that portion of the advice regarding sticking the .380 in the bear's mouth.  ;)

Dick Casull certainly knew what he was doing when he developed the .454 Casull cartridge back in 1957. Just conskider a 240-grain JHP bullet moving at 1,900 feet per second and generating 1,923 foot-pounds of force. :o

It is amazing.  I also have a Freedom Arms .454, 7 1/2 inch barrel without porting.  Kicks like the grizzly bear we're trying to avoid.

I do like it though, kick and all.

A Coworkers brother in law had a similar experience 2- 3 yrs ago while trout fishing. 3 rnds into the charging kodiak took her down about 25 paces from him.
Needless to say he has thebear in his livingroom now, don't knnow what he did with his soiled drawers.

Oakmax1:

Welcome to the Forum.

Congratulate your coworker's brother for me. (Five will get you ten that he did the manly thing and buried the soiled drawers.  ;) )
